RUS101 (Integrated Studio) was the first classes I attend for my first day at HBP. The first professor teaching me is Prof.Wan.
RUS101's objective is learn, do, acquire, get, equip(themselves) with basic TOOLS. Students also need to participate in the development of the built environment.
First, we are learning Reading and Documenting.
What is Read? We must listen, see and understand the books we want to read. How to Read? We must use our ears, eyes and heart when we are reading. When to Read? We must read every time and anytime at anywhere. What to Read? We have six elements to learn: INTENTION, ACT, PRODUCT, ACTORS, RULES and SITE.
INTENTION is the purpose when we want to build something. We must have the inspiration when we have an idea to built something.
After we have intention, we must ACT. We have to design, draw and create what is in our mind. If we don't act, all the intention is only virtual in the earth.
We will have our PRODUCT after we was acting to our intention.
ACTORS is related to intention. We must have the actors to give the intention. If we don't have actors in this world, we will not having any building on our earth.
When we act, we must according to the RULES. We can't act freely just like what we want. We must follow the rules in our earth, country or even company.
Our product must build at a SITE. Surely, our site is at one part of the earth. If we don't have any site, our product can't show at this earth.
Besides that, we also learn TOOLS TO
1) Document - text, images (still, moving)
2) Communicate - text, images, models : present, argue, show, exhibit - NEGOTIATE
3) Design - images, models, objects, prototypes, spaces, EVENTS, HAPPENINGS
4) Construct - a page > a page in history
5) Serve - bottom billion > top ten
Lastly, my lecturer told us our project should not be same with other peoples. If we copy someone else work and we pretend it as our own work, this is call PLAGIARISM. This is a very serious case if we do so. Even we don't have a good idea for our homework, we also must not copy other homework or let our friends copy our homework.
I learn a lot from this classes and I know this will be very useful in my life! :)
